Merry Meet. :)) In October as we head for Samhain there are some very distinct scents and flavors that come up. One of my absolute favorites is Pumpkin Pie Spice. I first discovered my love for it many years ago when I use to drink coffee and Dunkin Donuts had their Pumpkin Spice coffee. I absolutely adored the smell and the flavor. Many of you know that I quit drinking coffee a few years ago now and I switched to herbal teas. I was missing the pumpkin spice still though, so I decided to start experimenting with it.
Did you know that most pumpkin pie spice mixes are just Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger and Allspice? Super easy to make. :))) I discovered that I love the taste of it in both my teas and my hot coco. It’s amazing how versatile this blend of herbs is. I even have been using it to flavor my seltzers. I am currently using the pumpkin pie spice extract from McCormick as it blends easier into liquids. If you wish to try your hand at making your own spice mix you will want to combine Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg and Allspice. Try it out in different things like cookies and muffins. You can even use the combination in a pot of water on your stove or in a baby crockpot to make your home smell like fall.
Much Love and Many Blessings,
