The Owl

Have I mentioned that I love Spring? We woke up this morning and stepped outside to greet the day and the birds were just singing so many different songs and everything smelled so amazing.  It was that temperature that I love where it’s still chilly enough to want a light sweatshirt but you can feel that sun and know it’s going to be a gorgeous day.  We couldn’t resist and decided to take a walk to go start the day right.

I have a park that’s within walking distance of my house.  The back side of it as I like to call it is across the street and the river from my house.  There is the main park that everyone loves to go to and then the back of the park is a wooded area filled with nature trails that we just adore.  On a weekday it’s rare to find more than one or two people who cross your path in an hour.  Just the way I like it.

The trail has bridges, wooden boardwalks and a good portion of it runs next to the water and I just love that.  Any extra time that I can spend near water in the woods is always amazing.

As we were walking Earl put his arm in front of me and stopped me.  He pointed at a tree just off the path and I was able to see the owl looking back at me.  You can see her in the picture at the top of the article sitting in the tree.  She’s a beautiful Barred Owl.  She seemed to not really care that we were there at all.  We tried to be quiet while watching her.  She definitely spent some time looking at us… and looking for breakfast perhaps along the river that she was sitting above.

A few minutes later Earl realized that there was a second owl across the river.  You could barely make him out against the tree as they blend in so well.  He was bigger and lighter in color.  After some time sitting there the owl in front of us flew over to the other one.  They started pruning each others feathers and after some time settled in for a nap together.  It was amazing how they blended perfectly into the tree.  We would have never seen them if we were just walking by.

I can hear two owls calling to each other most nights from my bedroom when I am reading or getting ready to fall asleep.  It’s been happening for several years now.  For those of you who have been with me for awhile I’ve most likely told you about them. I can’t help but wonder if it’s them! The location that they were in would be possible.  I’m not sure how many owls there would be in that area.  It just made my morning to not only see them but to have that much time watching one.  It’s the same type of owl that I saw several years ago near that same location.

I hope that you have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong
