The other day I had a question from a wonderful sister in the craft who was not blessed with hearing this life, and felt uncomfortable speaking the spells out loud. She asked if she would still be able to work rituals and magick if she was unable to speak a spell as it was meant to be.
The one thing that I want you to remember whenever you work with magick is that you are a child of the Divine. You are created by the Divine, you walk as one of them, and therefore anything you put your heart and soul into is perfect. You can work a spell purely with your intention and visualizing the materials that you need, speaking the words in your head, and that spell has the potential to be just as effective as one that is being worked with all the proper materials.
Often times spells consist of materials to help get us in the right frame of mind, and make us believe in what we are doing. Our mind is very very powerful, and if you don’t believe something will work, it won’t. So to quiet that part of us down we will work with materials to help us get past that barrier. Are they always necessary? No. I can tell you with confidence as I’ve done them this way for years, that you can work spells, with nothing but yourself and they will work.
Am I saying these things are not necessary or they don’t help. Absolutely not, if you can get the proper materials, by all means, perform the spell as written. It will make the energy easier to raise. For those who may not have everything they need on hand to work a particular spell though, you need to know that you are very powerful, as is your mind, and if you want to raise the energy bad enough to do something, you absolutely can.
