Your Power Hand In Magick

How many of you have read a spell and noticed that it asked you to use your power hand?

How many of you know which hand is your power hand?

How many of you know what a power hand is?

Ok before I start explaining, quick exercise. Fold your hands and put them in your lap while you read the rest of this article.

No, Don’t think about why. Ok ready? Let’s keep going.

Your power hand is typically the same hand that we consider your “main hand” in day to day life. So for example if you write with your right hand, your power hand is typically your right hand.

Now what in the world do we use it for and why? Well, being that we use that hand the most, that hand will also be the one that we are most affluent in doing energy work with. It is usually also the hand you will be most sensitive to energy with. In my case it works like a divining rod since I got my Reiki training. Some of you probably remember me telling you stories about being in bookstores, or out and about and my hand will start tingling to help lead me to something? Crazy huh? But betcha can’t guess which hand it is… That’s right my power hand.

Usually your power hand is also your projective hand, or the hand you send energy through, whereas the other hand is your receptive hand or the hand you receive energy with. So for instance since I am right-handed, I send energy with my right, and receive with my left.

Pretty easy right? So now when you are practicing the craft you can easily identify your power hand, and even your projective and receptive. Now back to those hands in your lap.

Look at your hands. Which hand has the thumb on top? Is it your dominant hand or your power hand I betcha your power hand is the one with the thumb on top. Pretty neat huh?  That’s a quick way to check. If you are ambidextrous that can help you to sort out which hand is your power hand.

Have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
