Deep in the forest there is a little house… a little house that many call the witch house.
I’ve seen pictures of this house many times as I’m sure many of you may have encountered through the years. It looks like a witch house that you would find in fairy tails right? Perhaps the witch’s house from Hansel and Gretel. It is just recently that I have learned of where this house is and a bit about it’s history.
The house, named Flintholm which means Flint Island, and it resides in the middle of the Horstved Wood in Djursland Denmark. The house was built in the 1930’s by Peter Madsen Pederson who was a farmer. He is the one that planted many of the trees around the home. His family had been on the land for about 300 years. There is a stone with the following inscription upon the land:
The Stabrand Heritage 1656 – 1956
Three centuries have passed, Father’s Day where busy and long stones were cleared homes were founded barren land made to field. Faithfully the father Christopher worked, founding father of the heritage. From noble roots he was cast. Things gave way, where he went. A flock of bold sons where raised, in homely circle. We fully appreciate his toil satisfied with the conditions. Forefathers land in family ownership was the goal for you. Even though dispute parted your ways, the home drew the spirit to this place. Generations after Generations sank into the grave rests peacefully in Mother’s soil. After them we lift the legacy and move forward in their tracks – The Stabrand Heritage
On this page you can see a picture of the stone and read more about the site: The Witch House
If you are interested I also found a really great video that shows the site as well here; Video The Witch House
So while it seems there was never a witch here, it’s a great place to explore and an interesting house.
Have a magickal day!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
