One of the things that I look forward to this time of year each year is the tree. I spent so much time with the tree when I was little. I would lay under it for hours reading to my stuffed animals, coloring, or anything else I could come up with that let me be as close to the lights as possible. It sounds rather silly I suppose, but have you ever spent time under the tree? There’s something about laying there and looking up at all those branches with all those twinkling lights. When my children were young I tried to spend at least one night with them sleeping under the tree in the living room. It was my way of trying to bring them a bit of the magick that I found as a child.
Something else that I would do each year is make ornaments. Some of my most cherished ones are the hand-painted porcelain ornaments that I made with my Grandmother or the yarn dolls with the glitter eyes. I would spend hours making those dough ornaments so I could paint them or even just cut and coloring snowflakes to hang on the tree with paperclips. Oh! Then there are the construction paper chains that go around the tree. I hope maybe some of my memories may help to bring back some of yours.
My idea for this year is to create a wish ornament. Create any type of ornament that you want to carry your wish. Get creative with this. The time and energy that you invest into your ornament are what will carry your wish to Yule and into the new year. Choose a place to hang your ornament. If you have a tree you can hang it on the tree. If you don’t have a tree hang it somewhere else in your house. Hang it higher up if you can so that it won’t get disturbed. 🙂 Make it a point to visit your ornament each day and it will help the energy of your dream come true.
