How many of you loved Unicorns as a child? If you asked me my favorite animal as a young child, it’s very likely that this is the answer you would have received. I read a lot growing up, and I was convinced that there was magick everywhere. Fairies were outside in the woods, angels always watched over you, animals could talk to you, and the Unicorn was just the most magickal creature to ever be.
I saw the movie, the Last Unicorn, when I was young and I loved it. Parts of it terrified me, some of it made me really sad, but I watched that movie so many times. I’m quite sure that helped my love of Unicorns. I had the book along with several other books about Unicorns. It was one of the books that I always looked for, alongside books about witches. Looking back on my room as a child, I’m not surprised that I’m here today doing what I’m doing! I had several stuffed animals, a beautiful musical unicorn with a lady, another statue of a unicorn, and I’m quite sure that if I dig through some of my things, I can find you more. One of my cherished possessions now is this picture.
Last year, at an estate sale, I found this picture. As soon as I saw it I caught my breath. It was so familiar, yet I hadn’t seen it in such a long time. I had the same picture hanging up in my room growing up. It’s interesting as the man that I purchased it from at the estate sale grew up in the same neighborhood as me. My parent’s had tag sales and I’m wondering if maybe it found its way back to me. It’s happily located in my office now right next to my desk.
Unicorns are something that I have loved working with since I was a child and I’m sure that won’t stop anytime soon! Oh! I also have the Last Unicorn Tarot Deck! It’s beautiful!
