Mabon Blessings! Today is important for two reasons. Today the Wheel of the Year turns and we celebrate Mabon. Mabon is our Witch’s Thanksgiving and the second of three harvests with the third concluding with Samhain next month. It’s the perfect time to give thanks for the many blessings that are surrounding us in our lives. Today is also the Autumn Equinox, a day where our night and day are balanced in light. We have some really wonderful energy to work with today.
As we celebrate our Autumn Equinox we have a bit of a pause in the middle of some pretty intense energy of change and transition. Today we will experience an equal amount of light and darkness in our day. Our daylight hours are balanced with our nighttime hours. It’s really a magickal time to pause and reflect upon the journey that you have been taking in your life. What’s clear to you right now? Is anything hiding in the shadows? Do you need to bring more balance to anything in your life? These are all questions that it would be good to spend a bit of time reflecting upon today.
Moving forward we will find that the Sun spends a bit less time with us as our beautiful Moon spends a bit of extra time with us. For some, this is a bit daunting to deal with as I know so many of us enjoy the warmth and light that the sun brings us. Yet I want to remind you that in the darkness there are treasures to be found as well. For me, one of the reasons that I get excited for the darkness this time of year is all the lights! From the lights on our Halloween display to all the holiday lights as we move towards Yule. They wouldn’t be quite the same in the sunshine.
While today is a day of balance we are going to remain in a really strong time of transition and change that is going to increase as we are moving forward through the season of the Witch and towards Samhain. Be willing to let things go that aren’t working for you in your life to make room for new things in our Witch’s New Year.
Today focus on the blessings you have in your life and the things that you wish to give thanks for. Take time to appreciate the beauty that is in the world around you. Spend some extra time in the light outside. Work with the spells that I have given you on Daily Magick. Both will help you to really work with the energy around us today.
