The return of the crisp morning air, soft blankets and sweaters, pumpkin and chai teas, colorful leaves everywhere, pumpkins and other Autumn goodies as we celebrate Mabon and the Autumn Equinox! I truly love living in New England this time of year. The sights, the smells, if I could just freeze the season right here and have it all year I absolutely would. Everything is still green but just starting to show a glimpse of those beautiful fall colors, the humidity has all but disappeared and given way to the most beautiful temperatures. It’s the time of year that I don’t want to come inside! I definitely love living in New England in the Autumn.
Today we celebrate out Autumn Equinox. This is the day that we say goodbye to Summer and begin the Season of the Witch and Autumn. So much fun. Here in New England we still have a lot of festivals and fairs going on and we are kicking into high gear as this tends to be a high tourist season for us in New England. For the next two weeks we have the biggest fair in New England happening, the Big E. It really does a wonderful job celebrating the harvest and the changing of the Wheel of the Year.
This is a photo that I took in Storrowton Village which is a part of the Big E last year. It’s an 18th to 19th century re-enactment village located on the fairgrounds that opens at special times throughout the year. I always find that these villages do a wonderful job following our Wheel of the Year. As you can see they are making hand made brooms here. Broomcorn has been used to make brooms for a long time and it is typically harvested in early Autumn. You may find some of it in the area that you live in and you can give making your own broom a try. It would be an amazing way to celebrate Mabon.
Mabon is our Witch’s Thanksgiving as some call it or the second of three harvests that we celebrate with Samhain being our final harvest next month. We are thankful for the bounty that our gardens and the Earth is still blessing us with. I know this time of year we start keeping an eye on things that we may need to bring in to dry or start canning as we start dipping into those lower temperatures in the evening.
It’s an incredibly magickal time of year. I have several reading for you available at the shop that will help you to celebrate and work with the energy this time of year. The Mabon Tarot Journey really celebrates the energy of the harvest and our holiday today. Witch Way Autumn takes a look at where you are today on your path and the things that you need to focus on for this season. I just added an Autumn Equinox reading that I know many of you will love. It helps you to work with the energy that the Autumn Equinox is bringing you and how it will impact your path moving forward. I hope you enjoy them! They will all be retiring tomorrow so make sure you book them today if you would like one!
Have a Blessed Mabon!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
Jasmeine Moonsong
