About a month ago now we adopted 6 baby quail. We live on just over a half acre of land and have been mulling over getting chickens for about 3 years now. The problem is the shape of our lot and the way the house is situated the town we live in has rules that really make it impossible to have chickens. However they have no restrictions on having quail on the property.
Quail are different than chickens in a bunch of ways, they will grow up much quicker and they will actually be producing eggs in a few days now when they are between 7 and 8 weeks old. Isn’t that crazy? When we got them they fit in the palm of my hand they were so tiny. They currently are bigger than my hand.
This little one was snoozing in my hand for a little while. It just walked right up into the palm of my hand and curled up. It almost immediately went to sleep as it got warm.
This was their nap time. They often piled up and slept together, sometimes in their food bowl. Aren’t they cute!
They are currently outside in the huge coop that we built for them off of our shed. They have a huge enclosed yard that they can run around and we made it big enough so that they can fly. :))
Much Love and Many Blessings,
