When we spent the weekend in Salem I was incredibly lucky to spend two nights at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem.
The Hawthorne Hotel is one of the oldest hotels remaining in Salem having opened in the 1920’s. It’s also one of the best known hotels. I love that it is in an incredibly central location and you can walk to pretty much anything that you want to see in Salem.
Some of you may have also heard of it as it’s also known as one of the most haunted hotels in America. I looked up some of the stories once I got there but I’ll be honest I didn’t want to know too much about the hotel as I wanted to see what I picked up when I was there.
I had several experiences in the hotel. The first time we got there I thought the elevator felt strange. I was unbelievably dizzy when I first got off of it and a bit disoriented. I took a breath and we made our way to our room. This is the hallway.
I immediately joked about the resemblance to the sisters in the movie The Shining. The resemblance was a bit crazy. We all laughed about it and I honestly thought that would be it for the weekend.
Throughout the weekend I had several other experiences. I felt like my hair got tugged twice. Once was when I first got there and came into the hallway, another time it actually woke me from my sleep. I had a can of seltzer on the counter one night that woke me up as it sounded like you had pushed the can in and it kept popping back out. On a different night, I swear I heard the toilet seat go up and down a couple of times. Maybe this all could have been in my mind or have reasonable explanations. The energy was bizarre though and I wasn’t even on one of the floors that was supposed to be haunted. Apparently, the third and sixth floors have the most activity as well as the basement. We were staying on the fourth floor.
That elevator though!!! We had so many experiences. It would always stop at the third floor. It didn’t matter what was going on or how many of us were there it just seemed to always stop there. Just one of the elevators though not both of them.
His Mother and I both swore the carpet in that elevator was red but on the last day, we noticed it was green. We thought it was green in one and red in the other. I swear it was because I rode by myself on it a few times and looked at the floor as I’m not a huge fan of old elevators. With a bit of research, I found that it was that color before. Interesting right?
Perhaps the most profound experience though was the maid. We got on the elevator to go to breakfast. She came in right behind us and asked if we were going to the Lobby. We told her yes and watched as she pushed the first-floor button. The elevator stopped at the third floor even though no one pushed the button and she said “Well this is where I get off, enjoy your trip to the first floor.” Ummmm… All three of us saw her push the button. It was really crazy. What’s most interesting to me is that I had that calm sensation that I’ve had when experiencing other spirits that clearly and it felt like time was slowed down as we noticed the details like her not pushing the button and if I could draw well I could show you what she looked like.
Something else interesting is that I took all of these amazing photos of the hotel and my room. None of the photos of my room came out. I have the door but my photos of inside the room are just missing. I have an iPhone. I also took a ton of pictures of the lobby in the hotel. I pointed and clicked at about 6 different angles and I only got two.
I’ve also had this happening with dealing with other places with Spirits. It’s something that is pretty common to have them missing or blurred out. I’ll tell you about the ghost in the House of Seven Gables tomorrow.
I hope you have an amazingly magickal day!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
