The Importance of Keeping Magickal Mood Journals

How many of you see everyone running around talking about how wonderful the Full Moon is and wonder why you feel like you just got hit by a truck and are completely exhausted? For empaths and others who are sensitive to energy, the Full Moon can be completely exhausting. It honestly took me years to figure out the correlation. I finally noticed that every Full Moon when it came time to work with magick I was completely exhausted. I started tracking it and found that it was incredibly consistent. I also noticed that on the day of the New Moon I had new and refreshed energy and I felt much better.  

Another example is when a storm is coming in. I often know a storm is coming long before those skies start to turn as I get an incredible headache and depending on how bad the storm is that’s coming through it can make me incredibly fatigued and even cause dizziness.

Part of your path in life is getting to know yourself. It’s helpful to know if there are things in your life that are impacting your mood and how you feel in life. If you know things like the Full Moon can make you feel exhausted, then you can plan to get some extra rest around that time and drink some extra water. At the very least you will know to watch for it and understand why you feel the way you do.

Magickal Journals are incredibly important when you are working with energy. However, what I don’t see mentioned a lot is how important your mood is when you are working with magick. You can have the most amazing ritual on the most beautiful Full Moon and if you are cranky because you are exhausted, there’s a very good chance that the effort that you put in will not bring you the success that you are looking for. In some cases you may find that it can have adverse reactions as well. This is why it’s so important that you keep track of your moods.

Even if you don’t work with magick at all it’s still important to keep track of your moods. You will find that it can help you in so many aspects of your life.  

Grab a special journal and keep it specifically to track your emotions, you can keep it as simple as you want or you can give lots of details. This is your journal. These are the types of things you want to track:

Lunar Cycles

Weather Patterns

Astrological Events

Seasonal Shifts

To make it easier on yourself you can get those little sticky tabs to help you organize. You can stick them on the pages to help you categorize. For instance give all Lunar events a blue tab, weather a green, seasonal orange and so on. Whatever helps you to recognize the patterns so that you can use them moving forward.
