When the weather gets chilly here in New England I find myself reaching towards one of my favorites for this time of year, Cinnamon. Many of you know that I adore tea and I have at least a cup of day. As the cold weather moves in I move to several. I learned to love herbal tea many years ago now when I found out that I was actually allergic to tea leaves. Herbal tea actually doesn’t contain tea leaves. When the cold weather moves in it always reminds me of Cinnamon. I always keep a box of cinnamon sticks in my house to use in my tea and sometimes I will just boil a pot of water with one in it to make the house smell nice. I use cinnamon all year for health benefits but I increase my use this time of year. One cinnamon stick will last for multiple cups of tea in a day and it smells amazing as well.
We didn’t start cultivating cinnamon until the late 1700’s. For something that I enjoy in the colder weather it actually prefers to grow in tropical climates. Most of the cinnamon that we have in our homes today comes from the bark of this tropical evergreen tree. The bark is typically harvested twice a year after the rainy season. While it is primarily the bark that you will find in your kitchen, you will also find essential oils made from the leaves of the trees.
Cinnamon has a wide variety of health benefits. One of it’s benefits is for your tummy. It can help sooth an upset stomach or calm nausea. It even can help with the digestion process. Try a cup of cinnamon tea after your next dinner. It also can help with blood sugar fluctuations and your metabolism. Have a cold? Cinnamon can help with that as well. It is also an incredibly strong anti-fungal and antibacterial aid.
Cinnamon has a lot of magickal uses as well. For added healing energy drink a cup of cinnamon tea. You can also use it to heal and protect the area that you live in. How many of you see the cinnamon brooms in the stores that come out around November each year? They usually make the stores smell amazing and they will do the same for your home. You can hang one above your front door for extra protection for your home.
Cinnamon is also used in a lot of love and romance spells. Incorporate some into a meal or burn some to help raise the romance in the room. It also is powerful to attract positive energy to you and prosperity and you will see it used in a lot of prosperity spells. It can aid you in success in what you are trying to manifest in your life.
Looking for a bit of extra magick? Pair Cinnamon with Vanilla. It’s smell is incredibly soothing and it will raise the energy vibration in any room that you are in. It will also raise your spiritual vibration. If you are a gifted intuitive try this powerful combination out the next time you are working with your gifts.
Have a magickal day!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
