The crystals you use, incense, magickal tools, and other unique items make you successful in your craft, right? While I’m not going to dispute that they can be a valuable tool to help you when working with magick, I want you to know that they are not always necessary.
Several people taught me on my path that the most essential part of a magickal practice is you. It’s the investment of your energy into your practice that makes it powerful. It’s your intentions, energy, heart, soul, and beliefs that make magick work. When I first heard it, I was pretty skeptical, honestly. Me… wary of something? After spending many moons working with magick, putting this into practice, and seeing the indisputable results, it’s now what I teach as well.
How many of you have wished upon a star? Going out and wishing on a star is a simple example, and I often use it to illustrate the concept. Did you know that wishing on a star is a very simple spell? When you wish upon that star, you put your intentions out into the Universe and move energy. I first learned that this worked when I went through a particularly challenging time in my life. I sat outside, pouring my heart out to that first star of the night so many nights that I lost track, asking for a few very specific things in my life. Those things I have today, and I am so happy. Since then, I’ve done this on many occasions when I need help, and I know that my guides always hear me.
When I got divorced, I was concerned because I knew I wasn’t making enough money to hold the house up on my own. Keeping the house was so important to me. I wanted the kids to keep their childhood home and have a yard to play in. I sat outside and wished on that star, asking my guides for help. That night my Facebook page exploded, Daily Magick exploded, and all of a sudden, I had exactly what I needed to pay the bills. We weren’t going to be rich, but we were going to make it. I could keep the house. There is no doubt in my mind that my guides helped me to make things happen.
I’ve been through many tough times in my life where I’ve been struggling financially, and things that I need seem to show up. I can’t tell you how often we’ve needed something like a desk, hoses for the garden or other things and have just found them on the side of the road. Things are a little better right now financially, but I will forever be grateful for those days when what I needed just seemed to show up, and honestly, it still happens. It’s the energy that I put out there drawing those things towards me and the wonderful guides in my life helping me. I’ve learned that while I may not always have what I want? I will always have what I need. I have developed this relationship of trust with my guides. We work together every day. They help me bring messages to you and help me provide for all of us here. I can’t imagine living life any other way.
The point to my whole story is that while tools to help you practice your craft can be amazing, I don’t want you to think that you can’t practice the craft if you don’t have something or can’t afford something. You must never forget that you are the most essential part of your practice. If you are missing something for a spell, try to find a suitable substitute, or you can even visualize things. That energy that you are raising is so important. Put your heart and soul out there, and you will find that you can manifest what you need. The Universe is always listening. Give them your heart, be honest, ask for help and you will find they will respond. It’s incredibly powerful magick.
