Welcome to August! This is one of my favorite months of the year as all the gardens are bursting with treasures for us each day and here in New England, everything is just so green and beautiful. I just love the Summer. We just came in from visiting family in California this weekend and I always find that stepping away from home for a few days helps to bring relaxation, grounding, and added strength. It was so wonderful to have a week to just spend with family exploring and living life in California. We even got to explore the Winchester house! For those of you who are members of Moonsong Daily Magick I will be sharing some pictures and stories with you, likely this week.
Let’s take a look at what’s coming our way this month!
August 1 – Lammas or Lughnasadh – On the 1st of this month we celebrated our first of three harvests on our Wheel of the Year. It’s time to celebrate the crops and gifts that the Earth is giving to us now.
August 5 – Celtic Tree month Hazel begins.
August 8 – New Moon
August 11 -12 – Perseids Meteor Shower
August 13 – Roman Festival of Pomona, goddess of apples and orchards
August 22 – Full Moon
August 23 – Vulcanalia the Roman festival of craftsman.
August 31 – Raymond Buckland birthday.
I pulled the Ace of Swords for the month of August from my main tarot deck, the Mystic Dreamer tarot. This card really corresponds with the energy that I’m picking up on as we begin this month. I have the energy of new beginnings all around us and I love that. It’s going to open up some new opportunities and options in your life so be sure to look for where those are. I also have a lot of wonderful healing energy surrounding us. This energy is meant to help us to heal ourselves and perhaps some areas of our lives that may help us to gain strength. This isn’t forceful energy that I have around us but a gentle and nurturing energy meant to help us to take on those new beginnings that have been calling to us, but perhaps we have been afraid to answer for one reason or another. Our New Moon this month is on the 8th and I can already feel her energy moving towards us. Embrace new beginnings in your life and discovering new things about yourself. You will find that communication is also stronger this month, not only with others but with yourself as well. You may find that you have an easier time putting your thoughts in order and really getting clear on what you are thinking. The Sun is with us this month. Sunshine brings clarity and energy of passion so make sure to soak up some extra energy.
