Welcome August!
Welcome to August! There is a distinct change that happens at this time of year where I live. We go from primarily tree frogs at night to the sound of Katydids and crickets. It’s a significant shift, and it usually happens pretty quickly. With this shift, we will also start getting those cooler mornings and evenings, reminding me that the days are already beginning to grow shorter and we are moving towards the cooler weather. That’s not to say it’s here yet! I need more time to soak up the sun before it gets here! I honestly feel like we just celebrated the Summer Solstice yesterday. We actually celebrated Lughnasadh yesterday. It is the first of three harvests, including the upcoming Mabon and Samhain, and it’s the midpoint of Summer. Hopefully, everyone had some time to do something that involves the sun yesterday to celebrate!
August continues bringing us the strong energy of the Sun and the movement that Summer tends to bring in the energy around us. Look to that energy of the Sun and the life blooming all around you to bring you more clarity and positive energy in your life. August in New England is so beautiful. Everything is just various shades of Green, and you can find the most beautiful bursts of color absolutely everywhere. August also starts fair season here in New England. All of our towns are bursting with fairs, festivals, farmers’ markets, concerts, and other outdoor activities. It’s definitely a great time to be here. I’m excited about several things coming up over the next few weeks. Tomorrow, we are going to a new farmers’ market, which I was told is amazing.

August 1—Lammas or Lughnasadh—On the 1st of this month, we celebrated the first of three harvests on our Wheel of the Year. It’s time to celebrate the crops and gifts that the Earth is giving to us now.

August 9 – Full Moon
August 12 – 13 Perseids Meteor Shower
August 13 – Roman Festival of Pomona, goddess of apples and orchards
August 23 – New Moon
August 23 – Vulcanalia, the Roman festival of craftsmen.
August 31 – Raymond Buckland’s birthday.
I pulled the Justice card for this month. I mentioned that Summer brings a lot of energy of movement. Whenever you have energy of change you will find that opportunities and decisions are coming your way. Give extra attention to them. You always want to watch for them, but this month keep an eye out for the ones that may influence the path that you are taking as you move forward. You may find that some big decisions are coming your way this month. Choose wisely.
