Growing up in New England one of the things that I love is all the stone walls and bridges. We have a lot of water out here and it’s not uncommon to see several bridges in a town, you may even see a small bridge as part of someone’s driveway to help them navigate over a small brook on their property.
I’m particularly fond of the old covered bridges here in New England. I always get excited when I find one as some of them can be pretty old. A lot are now out of service and have been preserved for historical purposes. There’s something so neat about walking through a covered bridge from the 1800’s listening to your footsteps echo back at you from the walls of the bridge.
I love working with energy and when I find places that are more charged with energy like a bridge I always look into different ways to work with that energy. For example, an old bridge, like a bridge from the 1800s would be a great place to work with some older energy from the area. Maybe you want to call upon the spirits of the people who lived and worked the land in that area to see what wisdom they can bring you. If you are looking to connect with your ancestors and you can find a bridge in the area that they are from a bridge can quite literally work as an energetic connection. Find one that is out of service to cars and place an object or something that reminds you of your ancestors on one side. Then sit or stand at the other side of the bridge and visualize your energy connecting across the bridge. It can help with your connection to them.
Bridges are also an amazing place to let go of things. If you have something that you need to let go of in your life write it down on a leaf or a stick that you find on the ground near the bridge. Walk to the center of the bridge and release the leaf or stick it into the water below asking the Goddess to carry it away from you as the water moves it away from you.
I’ve always found the underside of bridges to hold some incredible energy as well. I’ve spent many happy hours sitting on old concrete under a bridge listening to the cars go by. There’s something about it that I find particularly grounding.
You can get creative with magick always. Just know that a bridge can help to bridge energy. Use that as inspiration to help you to design a spell that meets your needs.
I hope that you have the most magickal day!
