Today I wanted to go over a principle in magick and working with energy that is important and should be incorporated into your craft, your projective and your receptive hand. We use our projective hand to send or expel energy, and our receptive hand to receive energy.
How do you know the difference between hands?
For the majority of you, this will be easy. Your projective hand is the one that you use the majority of the time. For example, if you are right-handed, the your right hand is your projective hand and is the one you use to send energy. If you are left-handed, your left hand would be your projective hand. If you are able to use both hands equally, you want to spend some time sensing the energy in your hands, and determine which one you feel more comfortable using to send energy.
Now that we know that, what are some examples of how we would use this? A great example of how this works is charging a gemstone. For example, if you want to charge your quartz crystal on the next new or full moon. You would stand outside under the Moon. Hold the quartz crystal in your projective hand. Use your receptive hand to draw the energy of the Moon into your hand, down your arm, through your body, down your projective arm, through your projective hand, to charge the stone. Make sense?
Examples of Projective Hand Activities Most of us are healers in some capacity, while you may find you naturally work with both hands during healing, you should be concentrating on sending that energy with your right hand and receiving it with your left. Whenever you wish to charge items you are working with always hold them in your right hand for you are adding energy to them. Any time you are adding your energy, or universal energy to an object to work with it, use your right hand.
Examples of Receptive Hand Activities If you want to sense the energy of something you wish to work with, you would hold it in your receptive hand to get an accurate feel for it. The next time you are doing a meditation, try holding your left hand with the palm up to facilitate receiving energy as this is one of the many places you will receive energy. If you wish to receive energy from someone you would join your left hand with theirs to exchange that energy. I hope this helps!
