We took a few days off a couple weeks ago and decided that on one of those days it was the perfect time to take a walk on the Appalachian trail. Little did we know we would hike over a mountain over the next almost seven hours.
I just love being out in the woods. It’s so relaxing. I love all the smells and looking for little treasures as we look at the best that nature has to offer. There is a place that you can access the Appalachian Trail in Lee, Massachusetts that I have always wanted to go to and we got to explore it last week. I took a bunch of pictures and wanted to share them with you today as I know many of you love being out in nature as much as I do.
Of course I had to catch a picture of the sign at where we were entering the trail. The Appalachian Trail is a trail that was finished in 1937 and extends over 2,100 miles from Georgia to Maine. I consider myself lucky to live in an area that has access to this trail.
Right when you stepped onto the trail the boards were there to greet you. Can I tell you how much fun it was to pretend they were balance beams as we started our adventure?
I was excited to find a small bridge a very short way up the trail. Bridges always lead to good adventures.
We continued up the trail to find this beautiful lake waiting for us. What was interesting is there was a really nice house with a small beach to the side of it. On the way back we figured out it was a very small hotel. It looks like a beautiful place to stay.
The trail went over the Mass Pike. I was really excited to find this bracelet tucked in the fence. I love signs. Someone must have come through and placed them for people intentionally as there were several of them tucked along the bridge. Such a wonderful thing to do for people. Of course you know we spent a good deal of time laughing while we waved to the people on the highways and got the trucks to beep as they went under the bridge. It’s been a long time since I spent time doing this. So much fun!
I just thought this looked so amazing!
The next part was the unplanned part of the hike. It’s where we took it from a casual walk in the woods to a hike. I now understand the use for those walking poles that I see people using! You know you are on a different type of trail when almost everyone has backpacks and walking sticks or poles.
We found so much ghost pipe out there! If you don’t know what it is I have a great article on it for you here: The Magick of Ghost Pipe
This is the lake that was at the bottom of the mountain on the other side. We never intended to go that far! We were just having so much fun and we wanted to see it.
This was the remains of an old fireplace that we found down near the lake. We want to go back on another day and do a different leg of the trail. It was just such an incredible experience. I can’t wait until we get to try another section of it. I hope you enjoyed the pictures!
Have a magickal day!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
