The Turquoise Lake

I’ve lived in New England my entire life and through the years I have definitely found some wonderful places and spaces.  One of my favorite towns is an old town in Massachusetts called Sturbridge.  If you live in my state I have no doubt that you have heard of the town.  The English Puritans first came to this town in 1644 so you will find that it has a lot of history and that’s just one of the many things that I love about this town.  The town is most well known for it’s living museum, Old Sturbridge Village which shows what life looked like in the 1790’s through the 1830’s.  While it’s a well known town in my state it’s also a pretty quiet town.  There’s a small cluster of tourist type attractions near the village and the rest of the town stays pretty quiet.

My favorite part of this town is all the amazing places to hike.  I’ve spent countless hours happily wandering the trails in Sturbridge.  For those of you who have been with me for awhile you may remember me sharing a site on a hiking trail that everyone builds fairy houses.  You can read about that here: The Old Sturbridge Fairy Village

This past weekend we went out there and went on one of my favorite places to hike the Robinson Crusoe Camp portion of the Leadmine Mountain Trails.  If you’re from the area or ever in the area and interested in a map you can find it here: Leadmine Mountain Trail Map.  There are so many different trails that you can take.

We did around a 5 mile hike on the Robinson Crusoe Camp trail.  We were investigating trails near it as well.  This is a trail that goes around a campground that was open from the 30’s to the 60’s in Sturbridge.  It was a resident camp where children spent the entire Summer.  Almost all of the buildings have been taken down now but you can still find plenty of remains of the buildings to make things interesting.

One of my favorite spots on this trail is the turquoise lake.  I took so many pictures for you but honestly it’s so hard to capture it in a picture.  If you ever get the opportunity to see it in person the colors are just gorgeous.

Thinking Out Loud In Sturbridge: A Natural Mystery In Our Midst
I borrowed this picture from Thinking Out Loud.  It really looks like something out of a fairy tale.

I hope that you have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
