As we walk our path, it is incredibly important that we maintain balance. You will hear of many Goddesses with triple aspects, such as Hecate and the Morrigan. If you learn to identify the triple aspects within yourself, the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, and honor them, it will lead you to lead a more balanced life as well. Depending on where you are on your life path, you will likely identify with one of these aspects more strongly than the others. For instance, if you are a Mom, you may find it easier to identify with the Mother aspect. However, regardless of where you are on your path, you can honor all three of them within yourself.
Let’s take a closer look:
The Maiden is the promise of new beginnings and hope. She is carefree and excited about life. We can honor the maiden within ourselves by doing activities that are fun and free our souls. Find what makes you happy and do it. This can be taking a long walk in the fields and along the creek, gathering wildflowers, or painting while you listen to music in an art room. You may choose to dance, sing, write, play games, travel somewhere new and exciting, whatever activity gets your heart racing a little bit and puts one of those smiles upon your face that makes your cheeks hurt after a little bit. When you honor the maiden within you, you take the time to do whatever it is that is fun for you and makes your heart sing.
The Mother represents giving, compassion, and nurturing. When you care for little ones, you get an irreplaceable feeling of love. When you honor the Mother within yourself, you give to others and nurture others so that you feel that overwhelming feeling of love that warms your heart and soul. If you are not a Mom, that is ok too. You don’t have to have your own children to be an amazing Mother! I have a friend who is one of the most nurturing people I know, and she says it gives her time to help all the children in her life. You can do things like helping out children somewhere, or your friends. Know that you can be a Mom to furbabies, too!! They always need good parents. You can choose to bond with your furbabies or spend time nurturing plants in your garden, any activity in which you care for another, and allow the exchange of love.
The Crone represents wisdom and knowledge. She has a lifetime of experience and can assist others with her knowledge and loving compassion. This is truly a stage of life to be honored. While those of us in the previous stages may not have the life knowledge to pass along, we can help others with the life knowledge that we have gained. This is a time for study and research, doing those activities that help to fulfill your quest for knowledge. Some examples of activities to honor the Crone within you include reading, taking classes, exploring topics you want to, visiting museums, fine art, and anything that gives you additional knowledge.
When you consistently honor the three aspects within yourself, you will lead a more balanced life. We must take the time to do all three: have fun, love, and gain wisdom. It also brings us closer to the Goddess by reminding us to honor the Goddess within us all.
Much Love and Many Blessings,
