This time of year is pretty active on the East Coast of the United States for hurricanes. Those of you who live in the Southeastern United States are already quite aware of that.
Here in New England Hurricanes are pretty rare. They usually wind down long before they get this far up the coast. Unfortunately, it looks like we are going to get the chance to meet Hurricane Henri.
I live just to the South of the S in southwestern Massachusetts. You can see by the cone that we are in its path. Hopefully, it will lose strength as it comes our way. One of the biggest concerns out here is the water as many of you will remember me telling you about July bringing us an incredible amount of rain. We received so much that it actually took out most of our gardens. I personally am not a big fan of high winds. They have always scared me.
We are already making preparations for Henri to arrive but I just wanted to touch base with all of you to let you know what’s going on as it is rare. One of the things that I am concerned about is a power outage. I’m just assuming it will happen. They are telling us it may be a few days. However, I’m going to make sure that Moonsong Daily Magick and the Daily Oracle are all set for a few days just in case we lose power. I will likely not be on social media or the blog until this goes by. I’m trying to minimize the impact on the business. Earl is working on getting the house and yard set as much as we can. The other reason I wanted to write to you was to tell you a couple of things that you can do to help protect your home with magick in case you are in the range of this hurricane or any other storm that has you concerned.
Railroad Spikes – How many of you live near old railroads? We have a bunch of them out here and from time to time Earl and I will go walk near them looking for old railroad nails or spikes. Drive one into each corner of your yard asking that the Gods and the Goddess help to protect your home from harm. This can include things besides hurricanes. It’s just one of the stronger spells that I know to help with protecting the home.
Light shield – I just used this on a bit of a crazy drive home from Plymouth the other day. It was the remains of a tropical storm and made it incredibly hard to see while driving. Visualize your home and your property surrounded by a beautiful white light. Push it out from your heart to surround it with love. Love is very strong. Ask that your guides and the Goddess help you to protect your home and loved ones. With the car, I visualized the car as a variation.
Cinnamon – I adore cinnamon. You can sprinkle the perimeter of your house and property with cinnamon and ask for protection.
Again all of these can be used for other things besides a hurricane as well. Protection magick can help to protect you. Always make sure that you follow emergency orders as well and stay safe!
