Marble Divination

How many of you had a collection of marbles growing up?  I use to have a bag that had a small collection that I added to when I could throughout the years.  I must confess that I never learned how to play? I just loved the look of marbles and every time I found one that I thought was really unique or beautiful I would add it to my collection. I loved all the colors and the designs in the glass.

No one really knows where the history of marbles began.  However, when you look you can find that the marble has a long history dating back to ancient times where they were used by the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. They were so popular that they were even found in the tomb of Tutankhamen They were often made of polished nuts or stones during that time.  Throughout history, they have been made from a wide variety of materials to include not only glass but stone and clay.  In 1846 a German Glassblower invented marble scissors and this made them much more accessible to everyone as they became more affordable.

When I was young we had a ton of games that involved divination, magic 8 balls, handcrafted paper objects, the game M.A.S.H. among just a few I can quickly think of off the top of my head.  I, of course, gravitated towards anything like that and of course, I extended it to marbles.  I remember different colors to help me make decisions.  For instance, red means yes, blue means no, yellow means that I need time to think or unknown.  Yes, this is what I was doing at six. Is it any wonder I work with tarot cards and pendulums today? You can see how easy it is to use them though right?

Divination is quite simply a tool to help you to access your intuition.  You can use any method that you choose to help you to do this.  With marbles, you just need to decide what they mean.  I use to have a bag to keep them in and I would draw them from the bag.  You can use some of your collection or all depending on how detailed you wish to get.

You can also use marbles for scrying.  I believe that’s how I would describe it.  You have a bag full of all different marbles.  Ask a question and then pull a random marble.  Look at the design in the marble for clues.  You may find that something looks familiar that helps you to make the decision that you are trying to make.  Have fun with it!

Unfortunately, my marble collection got separated from me throughout the years. Seeing these marbles has inspired me though and I think perhaps I will pick it up again.  They really are so much fun to collect and look at.

Have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
