Raven Grimassi in my opinion is one of the greatest teachers for witchcraft. My personal library is packed with his books and whenever anyone is looking to learn the craft he is one of my top recommendations. Old World Witchcraft is a wonderful resource that he has given us and I believe has a place on any witch’s book shelf.
One of the things that I love about Raven’s books and how he teaches is the history that he brings to his lessons. He is someone that is very well read and he brings the history of witchcraft into a lot of his books. This is something I find important as I like knowing where traditions have come from. It also helps in energy work to know where a particular spell, symbol or other magickal you are using has come from as it can carry the energy of those who have used it before you. If that is something that you enjoy you will likely find that this is a book that you will treasure. I believe it’s incredibly important to have an understanding of the “old paths” to help create your personal new path.
When you think about a witch, they have a very close relationship with the Earth. Therefore working with plants and plant spirits is something that is incredibly important to your journey as a witch. Raven takes you on a journey to get to know both better. He will hep you to understand and improve your connection to the Earth as well as your connection to those who have worked the craft before us.
Everyone must create their own path as a witch. I believe in learning from those that we can and adopting the knowledge that makes sense for us. Raven is one of the most wonderful teachers that I know and certainly someone to plant seeds of information on your path.
