Part of being Wiccan is learning to sense everything around you, to be in tune with the natural world around you and match our energy to that of our Mother Earth. To do this though, we need to slow down.
I always talk about going for walks. It’s really my favorite thing to do to unwind. When you go for walks or even if you are just sitting in your yard take time to sense everything that’s happening around you. Watch the birds flittering about gathering food and preening themselves in the trees or dancing around with each other through the air. Watch the chipmunks, squirrels and other critters scurrying about and taking time to nibble on their newest find. When you slow down enough, you will notice that the animals around you actually respond to you. You will notice the birds cocking their heads to the side in curiosity as they look at you as if they have something to say. Listen to them and see if they do. Watch their actions and see if you can sense what message they might have for you.
Take time to lie down in the grass, or pick up a stick and notice the lines engrained in it interpreting what they could mean, or to feel a smooth stone in the palm of your hand and note it’s energy.
Many people ask me where I get my training. I have had a fair amount of formal training and have been blessed with some amazing teachers. My greatest teachers though come from Mother Nature herself, for it is in nature and when I form these connections that I can hear, see, and sense clearly. They inspire me and infuse me with knowledge that I would not receive unless I took the time to become one with them. I can tell you, it’s worth every moment.
It takes patience and practice, but the more you use your intuitive gifts to tune into the world around you, the more gifts they will give you back in return. These gifts are the precious gifts of life. If you have little ones, teach them to see these gifts as well, for they mean more than anything that money can buy you.
