Sleepy Hollow Virtual Tour

Cole and I took part in an absolutely amazing tour the other day and I wanted to share it with all of you today.  It was done live on Facebook and was done by the Halloween Queen.  She was absolutely incredible.  As a former teacher she took us on an hour and a half tour of Sleepy Hollow New York that was just so much fun and so incredible to watch.  We learned so much and it really incredible to hear about the people and places that inspired Washington Irving when he wrote the Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

The tour is posted on her page. It’s divided into two parts as she lost reception in the middle of it.  If you have an hour and a half to relax and watch a tour I thought it was really worth the time and well done. Here’s the links:

and this is the link for the second part.

Sleepy Hollow Tour Part 2

I tested it with Earl and I’m pretty sure you can see the tour without needing a Facebook account.  If you are on Facebook and want to check out her page you can find it here: The Queen of Halloween

She did this tour for free just because she wanted those of us who weren’t able to get to Sleepy Hollow because of Covid this year to still be able to see it.  It really exceeded my expectations and I hope all of you love it as much as Cole and I did.

In the picture above you will see the Old Dutch Church. The church was founded in Sleepy Hollow and the burial ground that you see to the side of it is where the Headless Horseman rises from in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  He is based on a real legend from that graveyard of a man who lost his head in the war to a cannonball and rises looking for it at night.  She will tell you more about this in the second part of the tour when she shows you the church and the graveyard.

Each year in Sleepy Hollow at the Master Story Teller Jonathan Kruk tells the Legend of Sleepy Hollow from the Old Dutch Church.  This year he will be doing it online because of Covid. I also found an amazing option to watch a previous show from him here:  Washington Irvings Classic, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, a dramatic retelling by Master Storyteller, Jonathan Kruk  This one is $5.00 to watch.  The kids and I are going to watch it this week after we carve pumpkins.  After watching the tour the other day I thought it would be perfect.  Then we are going to watch the movie Sleepy Hollow this weekend.  It’s a Sleepy Hollow kind of year! lol

I hope that you get the chance to watch one or both of them and that you enjoy them!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong
