Slow Cooking Herbs

Many years ago now I received a crock pot as a present.  Inside of it was a mini-crockpot.  I was immediately intrigued by it. I love my large crock pot and was thinking of things that I could make with this tiny crock pot, sauces, teas, etc. With some experimenting I found that what i use it for the most is slow cooking herbs and fruits for their aroma in the home. It fills my house with a beautiful subtle natural scent that I am absolutely loving.  Even better it’s super easy and much easier than just putting them in a pot on the stove.

Some ideas for herbs to use include rosemary, lavender, lemon verbena, mint, ginger, and the list goes on! You can use just one or make combinations that you love in your home. My favorite thus far is lavender with a bit of vanilla extract.  During the fall Apples with Cinnamon is absolutely the best. You can cut up an apple and put it in with a cinnamon stick or sprinkle some cinnamon on top.  Orange and basil is an incredibly uplifting scent as well. I threw in a cinnamon stick the other day and the combination was wonderful.  As a bonus you can use the water as a tea when you are done!

I don’t use essential oils in my mini crock pot, simply because if I cook in the pot I don’t want any residue from the oils to remain. If you have one that you wish to use only for aroma, that is another possibility.

I fill the crock pot almost to the top and then add whatever it is I wish to scent my room. I keep it on low throughout the day, or I’ve done it over a couple days before depending on how strong the scent remains.

You can find the crock pots in various places. Some of the grocery stores round here carry them as well as general stores. Usually they range from $10 to $15.00.

I hope you enjoy!

Have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
