Samhain is approaching quickly and while I’m not a fan of getting ready for holidays early I’m sure it comes as no surprise to all of you that I get excited for this one. We are already decorating and honestly started just before the first of September. It’s my favorite time of the year.
As we move into the season I also find that ghost hunting becomes more popular. It seems to have become a trend even out of season recently, at least where I’m from, but I know it really picks up this time of year. We were walking in Plymouth last weekend and the signs for the Ghost Tours were already out.
So what do you need to know? First, the odds of a ghost walking in front of you like you see in the movies? Slim to probably none. Most of you are probably nodding your heads and already know that. I have had the privilege to see almost a full body apparition in my life. At the time it happened I was outside in my yard wishing upon a star at a very difficult point in my life. I was actually calling upon my Grandfather. I saw a lot of fog that looked like it was from the dryer next door mixing with the cold air… except it wasn’t… in that mist I saw almost the entire shape of a man take form. I couldn’t make out a face as well as I wish I could have however I could make out a uniform and it was my Grandfather’s army uniform. I knew it was him. At the time I will tell you I don’t believe I could move? However I knew not to be afraid. This is the clearest full body apparition that I have seen and been looking straight at in my life.
For those of you who have ghost experience you will know that it is a lot more common to catch movement out of the corner of your eye or you may catch them in front of you however they are usually very fast! I’ve seen them other times when they are still but I can usually only pick up a small piece and I have to look very carefully as they blend in.
Where I can see them the easiest is with my minds eye. I usually can pick them up pretty clear. They’ve been there my whole life, I can sense them and I can see them, just not as clear as you standing in front of me usually. Well, sometimes I can! It’s in my mind though. I can always feel them! I remember years ago I was working with a group of gifted psychics and we were doing a guided meditation. I went each week to really work on my gifts and the meditations were amazing. However I often had a hard time with the meditation? Why? We were in an old house and there was a lady who use to live there and she was quite curious what we were doing. She would often stand at my feet and look down with me. It was distracting! I remember asking the lady running the class who is also a wonderful friend about the woman and she confirmed what I was seeing!
I know a lot of you are working on your gifts and honestly this is a great time of year to do it. Responsibly. If you can go on a ghost hunting tour I strongly encourage you to do so. I’m not talking about the ones that you stay in a haunted house overnight. I’m talking about the ones that tour towns and tell you about location. Now here’s the thing, you may get absolutely nothing on the tour? You may pick up a lot though. For instance I did the Plymouth a couple years ago and I picked up something the strongest where I really wasn’t expecting to. We were looking at a house and I just kept getting pulled to the house across the street. The energy was so strong I finally broke down and asked him about it as it wasn’t part of the tour. I told him I felt like something happened on the second floor and I felt like the outside walls looked funny to me? He then let me know that there was a murder in the house and the husband had hid the wife in the wall? Often you will find if you are with a good tour guide they will know the history and you can validate things that you pick up. I don’t recommend bombarding them with questions! Walk with the group and see what you pick up and then wait for them to tell the stories and see if they validate anything or anyone that you were sensing. Make sure you ground and center when you get home.
I don’t recommend going to old buildings on your own as an empath or places that you aren’t familiar with. Funny enough you would probably think that I’m worried about the ghosts. I’ll be honest? I very seldom meet a spirit or entity that bothers me although I have had them. The bigger thing that I am afraid of is people who may be living there that you don’t know about or things going on in these places that shouldn’t be as they are abandoned. I’ve always said that people honestly scare me more than spirits. Here’s a story to consider. I frequent abandoned photography posts. It’s a way that I exercise my gifts on a paranormal level as it’s one of my interests. A photographer on one of the places that I frequent had gone to check out an abandoned building that he had heard about. As he was in there he heard a lot of movement and managed to hide before a group of men wearing neon green rubber suits and masks with guns walked by him patrolling the halls underground. We believe he may have stumbled on a meth lab. He’s lucky that he didn’t get his life taken from him. He managed to sneak out and reported it to the authorities to deal with properly. My point is if it’s not an organized tour you never know what you are walking into so really be careful. I know organized tours aren’t as exciting to some but they definitely are safer.
Please remember that you don’t need to go to abandoned places to find spirits. They surround you every day and are literally everywhere. I see them in the parks, outside nursing homes, I’ve even encountered them in the grocery stores. The more you work on your gift the more you will sense.
Have fun!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
