Ever since I was little I remember being fascinated with the legend of King Arthur, his Knights, Lady Guinevere and all the stories associated with all of them. The Castle in the picture below is Tintagel Castle located in North Cornwall in the United Kingdom. Have any of you ever been there? I would absolutely love to be able to walk among the majestic remains of a time gone by that are left on this island.
The castle that you can see the remains of on this island today belonged to Richard, the First Earl of Cornwall in the 13th century. This site became open to the public as a tourist attraction in the 19th century.
Tintagel Island was associated with King Arthur as early as the 12th century when Geoffrey of Monmouth said the island was the home of Uther Pendragon and the birthplace of King Arthur. Regardless of if you believe in the Legends of King Arthur, when that many people believe in a legend you can find that a place like Tintagel Island can take on the energy of the Legends. If you have the opportunity to walk this island today you will likely feel the energy of times gone by. It’s definitely on my wish list of places I would love to go!
For those of you who love mystical sites, there are so many pictures online that I know you will love looking at. The island and the remains of the castle are gorgeous. For those of you who love mysteries and legends, you will love following the tales and accounts of this island and the theories that go along with it. I did find a nice video online that you can see just how beautiful this area is. You can find it here: Tintagel Castle There is also a page on their official website that has so much to explore regarding the history and the lore surrounding the castle. You can find that here: Tintagel Castle: History Meets Legend
Have a magickal day!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
