Each year I have one favorite sign that Spring is here, the Spring Peepers. They are a small chorus frog that you can find throughout most of the United States and Canada and they are known for the peeping sound that they make in the evening that lets everyone know that Spring is here. It’s the best part of Spring when it is just cool enough to leave our window open at night and listen to them sing as we fall asleep.
We spent last night out by a fire just listening to them. I posted a video of it on Facebook. You should be able to see the fire and hear them here: Spring Peepers and Fire video
My other favorite time comes a bit later in the summer when the fireflies return. The field across from my house lights up and looks absolutely magickal as you look down a hill upon it to see thousands of blinking lights in the dark. It’s really incredible.
Spring Peepers typically live about 3 years. They usually prefer to live in wooded areas and areas that are incredibly wet like ponds. Behind my house we have woods and the land that I live on is incredibly wet as we are on an old river basin. The river is now across the street and down the huge hill that I told you I watch the fireflies from.
Spring Peepers bring you energy of birth and renewal. Their energy is perfectly matched to the Spring that we are welcoming when the Peepers come to greet us. They can also help us with cleansing in our life and letting go of what isn’t in our best interest and working through changes and transformations in our lives.
Do you have Spring Peepers where you are? Do you look forward to them each year?
Have an amazingly magickal day!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
