The Comfy Well-Read Witch

The Comfy Well-Read Witch

I love reading. Growing up I spent countless happy hours at my local library tucked in one of those big old comfy chairs in the corner with a stack of books by my side.  When I was done I came home with bags full of books for reading in my room, on the bus, outside, and pretty much anywhere else I could grab a moment.  As I got older I added bookstores to the mix and then came e-books and e-Readers.

How many of you have a Kindle? For those of you who may not know Kindle is the e-book Reader that came out from Amazon. It’s both the App and they have various devices like the Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Fire.  When e-books first came out I had the one that Barnes and Noble came out with. I can’t remember the name now.  However, having an iPhone I quickly fell into the Kindle as I can take it everywhere with me.  I have the app on my phone and I am lucky enough to have an iPad that makes reading so much easier for me.  My favorite place to read is on the Kindle App on my iPad as it’s easy on my eyes or my Kindle Paperwhite.

The Kindle Paperwhite is closer to the original Kindle Reader that came out and I love it.  It’s incredibly lightweight and is the perfect size to take everywhere. For those of you who love to read a lot and either love e-books or are interested in them, I highly recommend it.   It’s the size of some books but thinner.  One of the main reasons that I got it was so that I could read outside.  It’s glare-free and does well sitting outside. It also has a small backlight built into it so it’s easy to read inside at night as well.

You can purchase e-books from a variety of places like Amazon. Did you know that you can also borrow them from your local library?  You can also borrow from various libraries.  For instance, I’m registered to borrow books from my local library and the Boston Library.  It’s nice that if one library doesn’t have it, I can look at the other library.  When I put a hold on a book it will tell me which library is the best library to put the hold on the book at.  My library uses a program called Libby. If you are interested just stop through your local library and ask them what program they use and what libraries are an option for you. We have a network of libraries across the state that I am allowed to borrow from.  It can be a lot of fun.

So why is all of this coming up today? Well 🙂 I woke up this morning and found an article in the NY Times that I loved. How I Customized My Kindle for the Coziest Reading Sessions of My Life  As someone who loves reading in bed and on my Kindle it addressed a couple of things for me. 🙂

The first thing that it mentioned was a holder for the Kindle.  This isn’t a problem for me too much unless I want to lie down. I have carpal tunnel in both of my wrists so it makes gripping things at certain angles difficult. The article mentioned that you could get a holder to hold your Kindle.

You can bend it in all different directions to do what you want with it.  If you’re interested, I’m not an affiliate, the article has the links to the things that they recommended.

The second thing that they recommended was a remote page-turner!  So if you live somewhere warm you are probably scratching your head looking at me like I’ve lost my mind.  However, I’m a New England girl and in winter it gets cold! Especially in the bedroom. I keep a heating blanket on my bed.  This is the ultimate cozy setup. I can have the Kindle on a stand in front of me so my hands don’t hurt and hide my arms and hands under the blanket so they don’t freeze with my page-turner! LOL 🙂 I had to share.  It’s a luxury setup and one I honestly likely won’t spend the money on myself. I can see how it can be used in other situations as well to make a comfortable setup for reading, especially if you have any issues with your hands or wrists. I thought it was exciting as it was something I hadn’t thought of so I wanted to share it with you. I also wanted to share how much I loved my Kindle in case some of you didn’t have it or weren’t aware that you could borrow books from the library on it as well.  I’m pretty sure that the Kindle app is available on pretty much any phone or computer now.  You can learn more about it here: Kindle App  I also get Kindle Unlimited when it goes on sale. 🙂 They have a lot of great books and magazines on there as well.

I hope that you have an amazingly magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong
