The New Hatch

Some of you may remember that we have quails.  They are a lot of fun and I adore their eggs so it’s a perfect combination.  Quails have a shorter lifespan and generally only live until about two years old.  Our birds are all coming up on two this year so we are starting to hatch some new ones to increase the amount that we have.

We just had our first hatch.  Out of 14 eggs we had 6 successful hatches.  I have some videos to show you.

This is when the first egg hatched:    First Egg Hatch

This is a really cute one where the first chick tried to help the second chick as it was hatching:  Second Hatch Friends

Here you can see them this morning.  They are hanging out in their food bowl.  The two in the back are just taking a snooze.   Good Morning Chicks

We had Pharoa Jumbo Coturnix Quail.  With this batch we went to a lady a town over and are working on getting some variety.  We picked up an all white male as we didn’t have males anymore and we got some eggs to hatch which are the chicks in this batch. They are from some quail that she had that looked red and silver.  I’m excited to see what the chicks look like as they get older.

These are their eggs.  Aren’t they pretty?  They are much smaller than chicken eggs.  About three quail eggs are equivalent to one chicken egg.

Earl printed trays that can be stacked to hold the eggs.

I will send you pictures as they get older. 🙂

Have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
