In some traditions on November 16th, we celebrate the Night of Hekate. The Goddess Hekate also known as Hecate is the Goddess of the Witches, Magic, and keeper of the crossroads or gateway to the other side. She is likely one of the better-known Goddesses among the Witches. We honor her on the Night of Hekate from sunset this evening until sunrise tomorrow.
Hekate was one of the first Goddesses that came to me and I’ll be honest she scared the pea soup out of me. She was the first Goddess that I heard…not as a psychic but in my ear. It was the craziest thing and to this day I wonder if I was dreaming that night but I have talked to so many others who have had the same experience I believe it to be so. She came when I first started my formal path as a witch. I had made that commitment. I had finally stepped onto that path and acknowledged where I belonged. It would make perfect sense to me that she would come to me then. I wasn’t quite ready then as I was just stepping tentatively onto my path and coming from a Christian background some things made me nervous. After a lot of research and understanding, I shed all of those initial fears and I couldn’t be happier with the path that I chose. I also finally decided to acknowledge the title of Witch many moons ago as well. I initially used Wiccan as I believed it softened things for others. People tend not to find it as scary. On my path and through all the studying I did and teachers that I was blessed to work with I realized that I am 100% witch. I always have been and I always will be. I have no doubt walked many many lives as one.
I learned to embrace Hekate at a time in my life when I was walking through some scary times. I found comfort in her power and her protective energy. I worked with her energy to learn how to gain strength and confidence and stand my ground when needed. As an empath, I found that I tended to let people tell me who I was and what to do. I learned to reclaim myself and my life with the aid of her energy and to this day I still work with the Goddess of the Witches.
If you work with her, November 16th is a great night to celebrate that connection. If you don’t work with her you may want to introduce yourself to her. She is a wonderful Goddess to connect with. I also designed a very special reading that is available just until her night for you. You can find it here: Goddess Hekate Tarot Journey
I hope that you have a magickal night!
Much Love and Many Blessings,

I am interested to know how you came into “yourself” after reading about your background. I was raised in a very conservative Christian family. It was breathtaking to read this article.
I was drawn to things to do with witches from the time I was really little. I remember writing to Laurie Cabot quite early and being absolutely thrilled when she wrote back to me to tell me to come back to her when I was 18. 🙂 I was thrilled to be able to work with her a couple of years ago. When my son was little he was seeing what I believed were spirits so I went looking for answers because I had the gift of sight when I was young. I stumbled across Wicca which seemed to encompass so many things that I loved and wound up teaching Empaths at Sacred Mists for years. Through the years I realized that I really identified more as a Witch than a Wiccan and that’s the short story of how I got to where I am! 🙂 It really always called to me. <3
