Try Your Hand At Scrying

Merry Meet.  How many of you have ever tried your hand at scrying? Scrying is an ancient divination method that evolved from water scrying.  Originally they would look into the water for answers to their questions, most commonly at night, for scrying is closely related to lunar energy. You can imagine looking into the lake on a dark night, or into a cast iron pot filled with water.

With time, mirrors came to about and some started scrying in mirrors as it was easier to get the desired effects, but it also could be done in a darkened room at any time as mirrors were portable.

Today you will find people using both methods.  I have worked with both, and personally still prefer water scrying, although there is something that still really intrigues me with mirror scrying.

So how do we do it?

When you first start working with scrying you want to make sure that you are in a dark room.  You will want one candle as a source of light in that room but keep it as dark as you can.  I honestly prefer working with black mirrors as I find them easier. Tomorrow I will teach you how to make one.

When you are scrying you want to angle your body so that you are not seeing your reflection in the mirror you are working with.  You can then use a source of light such as a candle a few inches from the mirror to help aid what you are seeing.

Have you ever stared at something so long that your eyes start going out of focus? That’s a bit what it’s like scrying.  You want to focus your attention on the mirror and try to relax and let your mind go where it wishes.

Before you begin scrying, you should open sacred space.  You will likely want to ground afterward as well.  Make sure you leave yourself around 20 minutes at minimum until you are familiar with how long it takes you.
