We all know that this year is different. For many, Samhain will look a lot different as well. Instead of getting together in groups to celebrate or going out with the kids trick-r-treating many of us are looking for alternatives. We signed up as part of a drive by haunted house tour in our town and have been spending many happy nights with the lights on and the fog rolling over our yard with huge smiles on our faces while the cars stop to see our haunted pirates. This year we intend to drive by the other haunted houses in town one night but we are going to stay here and enjoy our haunted pirates with some pizza and maybe a haunted Halloween treat instead of going door to door. Different but still a ton of fun. Pizza is always better with a room full of flicker bulbs right?
There are some other opportunities that I’m really excited about this Samhain and I wanted to pass them on to you as well as I know many of you will want to attend. They are all virtual and can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home.
Hocus Pocus has been my favorite Halloween movie since it came out in the 90’s. I bring it back almost every year to watch with my kids so I was over the Moon when I found this opportunity. The Hocus Pocus Halloween Takeover is a virtual event hosted by the New York Restoration Project. It’s just $10.00 per household for this event and promises an amazing time with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker from Hocus Pocus, Elvira to host the night and so many other favorites that I know many of you will enjoy. You will see all the names listed on the page that you buy your ticket at here: Hocus Pocus Ticket. Not only does it look like it will be a fun evening but you are supporting a wonderful cause as the New York Restoration Project transforms open spaces in New York to bring beautiful places in nature to residents. This event is at 8:00 p.m. EST on October 30th. I’ve already got my ticket!
Why not spend Samhain with Laurie Cabot and the Cabot Witches at the Historic Hawthorne hotel? Incredible opportunity? This will be a virtual event as well so you can enjoy it from the comfort of home. I had the opportunity to work with Laurie this Summer and I can tell you that she’s just amazing to work with. This is one of those special opportunities that if you have the time on Samhain night I think it would make that night incredibly special. The Hawthorne Hotel is incredible as well so much history and wonderful energy. If you ever get the opportunity to go to Salem you must stop in and see it. How about taking a class this Samhain with Chrisopher Penczak? He is teaching a class online on Samhain from 4:00 – 6:00 EST called The Isle of the Dead: A Journey of Healing and Wisdom. The event is virtual and is $30.00. He will take you on a virtual journey of the Fortunate Isles to meet three queens of the world, the Ladies of Love and Wisdom. I’ve been lucky enough to take classes with him before and they are always amazing. This would be an amazing way to spend some time on Samhain.
