A Simple Exercise to Relax and Help You Sleep
I honestly think that it was in basic training that I first learned this exercise but it’s possible it was somewhere else. I just know that it’s something that I use frequently, especially when I am having trouble falling asleep. It’s also helpful to relax and ease anxiety.
This is a simple meditation/visualization exercise where you bring your attention to every part of your body and consciously relax it. So for instance you start at the top of your head and work your way down through your ears, eyes, neck, wrists, stomach all the way down to your toes. Take your time and visualize each place. As you do, bring your awareness to it and see what you feel. Can you feel that place on your body? Can you feel any tension or stress there that you can release? You can move the place around a bit in an effort to release or let go of any tension that you are holding there so that you can relax your entire body.
Through many years of doing this, I learned a lot about where I store stress and tension. I have specific places in my back that I store it, my stomach, at the base of my neck and several other places. In bringing more awareness to it I can actively work to maintain those areas so that they aren’t so stiff. It’s a great activity to bring more attention to your body, help you relax and sleep more and to improve your overall health and well-being.
I hope that you have an amazingly magickal day!
