Chiron The Wounded Healer Returns to Aries

Chiron is a centaur from Greek mythology known as the wounded healer.  He was the son of the Titan Cronus and the Oceanid Philyra.  While his parents didn’t have a huge influence in his life Apollo did. He became a father figure for him teaching him all he could about herbalism, medicine and the arts.  This made him one of the wisest centaurs.   As a centaur his appearance was different and more notable as he had the legs of a human rather than that of a horse. If you enjoy going to art museums this is something that will help you to identify him.

He is known as the wounded healer as he was known for his amazing healing abilities but he was unable to heal his own wound.  There are always different versions of mythology so you may find different stories about Chiron.  He was wounded by an arrow and was in a lot of pain.  He was the son of Cronus so was unable to die. According to one myth he exchanged his immortality with Zeus so that he would be allowed to die and Prometheus would live. Prometheus had been sentenced to death for giving fire to humans. What is important about his myth when it comes to energy in astrology is that he was wounded deeply twice in his life, once when he was a baby and abandoned by his parents and the second time later in life with a wound that he was unable to heal.  However he healed his way through his life with his original wound and this is important to remember.

In 1977 Chiron was discovered by Charles Kowal. It was initially named for what they thought was an asteroid but was later classified as a minor planet with the name 2060 Chiron.  In 1989 they discovered that it exhibited the behavior of a comet making it known as both a minor planet and a comet. It is one of the few minor comets known to have rings.

Chiron is a slow and irregular traveler.  It takes Chiron about 50 years to go through the entire Zodiac Wheel and it doesn’t spend the same amount of time with each sign. It spends a lot of time in Aries. The presence of Chiron in Aries has been bringing us a lot of energy that has had us focused on ourselves, our individuality and how we fit into our lives.  You may have been finding yourself dealing with things like questioning your identity and why you are here or what your purpose is in life. It can also bring a lot of energy to emotions and being able to assert yourself and to set up boundaries where you need to in your life.  The past eight years has been bringing your attention to places that you’ve been vulnerable in your life and not connected to who you are and what you want.  It has been bringing energy that is meant to help us to understand ourselves better and to carve out our own paths in our lives.

On June 19th Chiron entered Taurus bringing us some new energy.  The energy shift will have brought your attention to material matters in your life, self worth and healing on a deeper level.

On August 3rd, Chiron went retrograde in Taurus letting us know that we have some issues that we are carrying in life that we really need to slow down and deal with. If you look back to that time you may find some things happening in your life that helped to call your attention to this.

Today, Chiron has returned to Aries. This is a final healing period.  It’s a time to review all the different energy that Chiron has been bringing you in these positions over the last 8 years.  It’s a time that you really want to make sure that you are living an authentic life and if you have any healing that you still need to do, this is an important time to do it.  Chiron will remain in Aries now until April 14, 2027 at which time it will move to Taurus for a very long journey until 2033.  The work that you do on final healing is going to be very important.

Remember that in the story of Chiron he carried a deep wound his entire life but he managed to thrive.  Sometimes there are wounds in life that we cannot heal and it’s about learning to carry them with us while still honoring ourselves and the lives that we are blessed to be walking.  Sometimes life isn’t fair.  It can bring some pretty tough changes our way and we can experience a lot of things that we need to learn how to grieve and how to carry with us because sometimes things can’t be healed to completion.  This energy helps you to understand what you need to heal, what you need to grieve and what you need to learn how to carry.  It helps to teach you to honor yourself and to make sure you are living your life to the fullest regardless of the challenges that have come your way.

I have designed a special reading to help you to work with this energy. 🙂 It’s a special 7-card reading to help you to navigate the energy coming your way over the next 7 months.  You can find it here: Chiron the Wounded Healer Tarot Reading. It’s available for a very limited time. 🙂
