Milestones

Sometimes we need to reach a particular destination before we can realize just how far we have truly come.

Do you ever get those days where you wonder what it is that you feel like you’re spinning your wheels and stuck in the same spot? I think everyone does.

This is a great exercise to do when you feel like this or even as a check in to see how far you have come.  Sit down with a pen and paper and write down where you are now and what’s going on in your life.  Then start looking back… where were you a month ago, at the beginning of the year, this time last year, two years ago, 5 years ago, 10… etc.  When you do that you will start to get a big picture of where you have been and just what has gone into making you who you are today and helped you to get to where you are standing today.

When I was really young one of my favorite gifts that I received was a Diary. I wrote in it every day for years and years. I have a shelf with those books packed with my hopes, fears and tales of what every day life was like for me then.  It’s interesting to glance back at those and pick up on things that really could have indicated where I would be on my path today and to see those moments that helped to define who I am today.  Everyone has those moments.

So while I realize that sitting down and writing a diary is a lot, if you have the time I can’t recommend it enough as it’s a valuable tool as well as a beautiful keepsake.  You can do a smaller journal where you record major events and things that you know are going to shape who you are in the future. You can set up a journal that you check in on at every New Moon and write down what has happened to you throughout the lunar cycle.

Really having a solid understanding of where you have come from and recognizing the work that you’ve put in to get to where you are can help you to understand where you want to go and how to get there.

Have a magickal day!
