Music of the Night

This is my favorite time of year here in New England.  The days are still warm but the mornings and evenings are cool giving you extra time to sit outside and enjoy the weather. It’s also cool enough that I can open all the windows at night and the house will smell amazing.

Most nights you will hear a chorus of crickets, the thunk of the bull frogs with their deep call, the tree frogs with their songs and if you are lucky the clicking of the bats.  Last night I was in for a special treat.  It started with an owl hooting in the distance.  I’m not sure that I will ever not get excited when I hear one.  This one last night was somewhere across the road from me and was calling at regular intervals.  To my delight I found that it got an answer after about fifteen minutes.  I sat there listening to the two communicating.  Would you believe that a third one joined in?  It was one of the most amazing experiences that I’ve had just sitting there listening to the calls and responses.  I had to laugh when a local dog tried to get in on the conversation but was rejected.

Owls are amazing to me.  They are rare to spot and I’ve been lucky enough to see them a few times over the past few years.  We are looking into building an owl box to put on our property to hopefully encourage them to come closer and maybe even nest in our yard and help us out with the voles that love our garden.   When Earl builds it I’ll be sure to share it with all of you.

One of my favorite spirit animals to work with is the owl.  When the owl shows up on your path she brings you wisdom and the ability to see what others may not see.  She can help you connect to your intuition and discover things about yourself that may be hidden.

If hope you have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
