The Bear

One of my favorite things to do is to go out and explore new places.  Yesterday we found a new trail to check out that wasn’t far from our home.

It was a really beautiful walk.  We were met by this bridge pretty quick.  On the other side of it was the mountain that we would go up.  I’m not sure what the elevation change was.  At the top of it the trail stayed along the peak of the mountain.  I definitely want to come back on a day that I have more time to explore as the trail apparently goes 115 miles.  We didn’t have time to go that far yesterday, but we were having an amazing time looking at all the trees and the stone walls that lined the trail that we were walking.

It was kind of eerie out there as there was a yellow haze from all the fires on the West Coast.  It made the sun here look pink.  It’s not something that we see often here in New England.  On our way back I felt like someone was following us.  You just know that feeling when you are being watched and you aren’t alone. I initially thought I was being paranoid but after several snaps of sticks behind us and rustlings of leaves I knew my intuition was right. I had been seeing signs of coyotes all the way up the mountain so I was wondering if perhaps one had taken an interest in us.  I was mulling this over as we were walking… I knew Earl was on to what I was hearing as well as he had fallen quiet as I had as we both walked down the path.

We stopped for a moment before we went down the mountain to head back to our car and we heard a grunt.  We both heard it as we looked at each other.  Then it came a second time.  I knew the sound of that grunt.  It was a bear.  It was time to get going. Earl and I didn’t even need to talk about it. We are almost always together in thought and we both just quietly made our way down the mountain.  I heard a couple of noises after that but they were always at a distance as they were before we heard the grunts.  We are thinking maybe he came over the top of the mountain and saw us and was curious.  It’s one time that I can honestly say I was happy not to see the bear! 🙂

The bear brings us courage and strength as a spirit animal.   They are a really powerful spirit animal often bringing us energy that helps us conquer things that we need to in our lives.  If you are interested in learning more about the bear as a spirit animal you can find an article I wrote here: Working with the Bear as Your Spirit Animal.

Have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
