The Blue Fairies of Summer

Some memories are cherished and you carry them with you always, as is the case with the one I wanted to share with you today.  When my children were young we spent a lot of time in the woods.  It was how I grew up and it was something that I thought was important for my children.  On one of those wonderful days, we were exploring what used to be an old part that had been closed for quite some time.  Cole had his hand wrapped around my finger and Melody all of sudden shouted something about a fairy and took off like a shot in front of me.  I called to her to come back and she eagerly pointed at this blue object floating in the distance.

We were in a time where Tinkerbelle was quite important in our lives as that was her favorite movie at the time…perhaps mine as well.  That was the conclusion I immediately jumped through.  But then as we got closer…. it was a blue fairy…exactly as she had said.  I still remember the excitement and the giggles as we followed this fairy through the woods.  It’s funny I will have to bring this story up to Melody later and see if she still remembers it.

Many moons later I was in the woods on my own and I saw the blue fairy again…. and again.. and again…. I seemed to have the best time spotting them around the beginning of Summer.

Have you ever seen a Wooly Aphid?

That is the scientific name for our blue fairies. I still call them blue fairies and chase after them. When they fly they look just like fairies, it’s absolutely incredible. They even seem to almost have this blue glow. I must confess I was a bit disappointed on the day that I found out what they really were. Still they always seem quite magickal whenever I see them.

I hope that you have the most magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong
