The Old Sturbridge Fairy Village

This past weekend I took a couple of days to go hiking and really take in the beautiful colors of the trees here in New England.

I was thrilled when we stepped onto the first trail and there were fairy bugs absolutely everywhere.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in one spot! I’m pretty sure they are actually wooly aphids.  They will forever be known to me as fairy bugs though as they look just like tiny fairies when they fly.

Imagine my delight when I rounded the corner and saw this sign.

I was so excited! Of course there is a fairy village nearby!  I just love that the Sturbridge Girl Scout troop did this and with such amazing results.  They roped off an area to build fairy houses.  I was thrilled to see that the area is still filled with them! I took several pictures to share with you.

This tiny one had acorn trinkets on top and a painted rock inside.

Village was definitely the perfect name to give this area.  There are so many little houses built here by everyone.  It really just made me so happy that two years after the girls made this area you can see it’s still quite active.

You can tell that a lot of love went into the little houses here and the entire area.  Check out the little fence and chimney on this one.  When you get down and look at some of them the details are really wonderful.

How about a tiny stone fireplace?

There was a huge variety of different styles and sizes of houses built as well.

One of my favorite things was that this area is all built out of the things found in nature in the area

It’s definitely a place that I look forward to going back to in the future and seeing how it evolves over time.  Maybe you can start one in your area! 🙂

I hope you have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
