Making Wreaths For Yule

Many moons ago now I was a Girl Scout. Around the holidays we would make wreaths to sell to help pay for our trips that we wanted to take throughout the year.  It was something that I always looked forward to as it always smelled so amazing and they came out incredibly beautiful.

They are incredibly easy to make and I wanted to pass along how to create them today.  You will need a wire coat hanger, some thin wire like florists wire to attach branches to the coat hanger and a bunch of evergreen branches.  We use to go out for long walks in the woods looking for branches that had fallen.

Make the hanger into a circle shape by bending it.  Set it on a table and then start laying branches one on top of the other to make them go around the circle.  This will give you an idea of how it looks and an approximate size that you want your branches to be.

When you are ready choose one direction to have your branches aim.

If you look at this one you can see how they are going the same direction. 🙂

Use the wire to attach the branches to the hanger by wrapping the wire around the branch.  You then want to work repeating that process branch by branch keeping them in the same direction working in the circle.  You can make it thicker by stacking them closer together or thinner by spreading them out. Pretty easy right? As you attache them there by wire just make sure that your wire is tight.

When you are done you can decorate it any way you want.  You can use the wire to wrap around a base of a pine cone and tuck it in.  Maybe you want to find some mistletoe and add it to it, lavender, berries, the possibilities are endless. I’ve also seen some with beautiful pentacles done with sticks in the center.  As long as you know how to make the base there is so much that you can do with that. You can also use this for other things like a base for your Yule log, or long strands of natural garland.  I hope you enjoy working with this as much as I do!

Have an amazingly magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
